Increasing the Sustain control has a double effect—the Tarpit gets slightly brighter, and the fuzz, sustain, and harmonics all increase. The wide sweep tone control brings a new level of versatility to the Tarpit. Turning the tone control down cuts treble, and boosts bass frequencies; setting the tone control in the middle, or slightly above, allows for full guitar and bass frequencies to come out. If you want to get really crazy, push the tone control higher, and you’ll get into some AM radio type frequencies. The volume control utilizes a slightly later taper on the potentiometer. So, that’s what we did! After countless requests for a Greer Amps delay, we’ve finally answered the call. We took the time to engineer this delay to have the sound and feel of those vintage delays, with some added touch sensitivity. The front end of the Black Tiger is structured in a way that lets the nuances of your playing come through. If you’re looking for a delay that has the warmth of vintage studio equipment, with some slight grain on the repeats, then look no further. When set at or above the dot on the faceplate, the pedal will go into self-oscillation mode. We took the basic building blocks of the vintage circuit, tweaked it, put a little bit of special sauce in the design by using\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eNOS BC-107B transistors\u003c\/strong\u003e, and threw an added feature in the mix. You’ll notice that there is an octave toggle, like on the vintage units that these pedals are styled after…but, that’s not just a straight-forward on\/off toggle. When the toggle is in STINGER mode, the momentary STINGER switch becomes active. You can simply stand on the momentary switch, to engage the OCTAVE for a lead run, then come off of the STINGER switch to return to normal fuzz, or even tap the switch, to flutter the octave on and off. This feature is absolutely awesome. We updated a few things, including the quality of the components used in the circuit, and you know that old Filter knob? Well, we turned it into a Tone control. It covers the exact same territory the original Filter control did, but…when you turn it up, you get more treble! AMAZING, I know! This beast is ready to melt rigs, rip faces off, and go to war. Greer took the basic building blocks of the vintage circuit, tweaked it, put a little bit of special sauce in the design by using NOS BC-107B transistors, and threw an added feature in the mix. You’ll notice that there is an octave toggle, like on the vintage units that these pedals are styled after…but, that’s not just a straight-forward on\/off toggle. When the toggle is in STINGER mode, the momentary STINGER switch becomes active. You can simply stand on the momentary switch, to engage the OCTAVE for a lead run, then come off of the STINGER switch to return to normal fuzz, or even tap the switch, to flutter the octave on and off. This feature is absolutely awesome. When the toggle is in OCTAVE mode, the fuzz is permanently an OCTAVE fuzz, and the STINGER switch is NOT ACTIVE.
