My, my, my, a rare bird indeed. The elusive Trini Lopez Custom.
Gibson's Trini Lopez Custom model is an ES-335 at heart but then there's that six-on-one-side headstock reminiscent of a non-Reverse Firebird. Crafted from maple with a solid maple center block in the middle of the body. It has a comfy "D" profile mahogany neck with a lovely ebony fingerboard (10" radius).
The electronics on this guy are all original, from the Patent Number humbuckers, to the 2 volume and tone controls, to the 3-way pickup selector, to the 3-way killswitch. Yes, we said killswitch. Original "patent-pending" Grover tuners. The 3-way toggle on the top horn is actually an "on - off - on" killswitch selector. It has had a small headstock crack at some point in its 55 years of life which has been repaired, and we've thoroughly inspected to make sure it's solid. This is a non-issue structurally and at this point purely cosmetic, hooray for your wallet!
The Cherry burst is beautiful, the resonance is to die for and the neck feels just perfect. These guitars are truly special and we will miss this sweet beast when it flys to it's new home.
Our killer techs here at EMS have given this sick vintage instrument a fresh setup, with polished and level frets. They have ensured that it is totally ready for the stage or studio. We'll ship it to you super safely in its original hardshell case (which is unfortunately missing the handle). Feel free to give us a call with any questions you may have about it!
