Originally contracted to build electric guitars for Standel Amps, Harptone continued production of their brilliant electrics under the Harptone logo in 1969. This beauty is a survivor that has aged amazingly and still sounds and plays like a dream!
The 510C features a maple body with a semi-hollow design. The neck has a slim profile (.937"-1.08") that's comfy and easy to get around on (1.68" nut width). It sports a beautiful rosewood fingerboard.
Let's talk pickups: the DeArmond pickups are a huge part of what makes this guitar special. Tons of clarity and brightness without being harsh; fullness and body without being muddy. Really sweet, vintage tone (N: 12.02k, B: 10.39k). The electronics are straightforward and familiar: 3-way pickup selector, Bridge Volume and Tone, Neck Volume and Tone, and a Master volume on the lower bout.
This guitar has several signs of its age overall. There are spots where the binding has seen better days (see pics). There is typical playwear overall. No major gashes or scratches, but typical pick swirl and some buckle rash on the back.
To continue bringing the tone for another 50 years, it will need a refret at some point, but the pro techs here at EMS have gone through and given this vintage wonder a full setup and cleaned all the electronics to make sure its playing its best. It will be packed safely and securely in its hardshell case!
