Sleeper bass rig ova 'ere! The mighty MiniBrain! This diminutive powerhouse of lowend consists of a über portable head with a 1x10 cab perched atop its 1x12 counterpart.
The MiniBrain head is a no bullshit 75w amp head dating to the 1990s. For years, PolyTone gear like this dominated the jazz bass player world but pop and rock guys are starting to learn how sweet these amps are. Weight just under 9 lbs., the head has dead simple controls: Bass (with stacked Mid control), Treble, and Volume. Also on the front panel are switches for Gain and Brightness along with Hi and Lo inputs. Along the back panel it features an effects loop and speaker and headphone outs.
The resonant cabs that come with this head consist of the top cab that is loaded up with a single 8" speakers. Down below is a larger, ported 1x12 cab to bring the extra power and move some air.
All in all, this rig stands just under 5' tall but packs tons of output and tons of room shaking tone in a smallish package.
This rig has seen some action and a lot of it. It has typical signs of love and use all over (see pics). The pro techs here at EMS have gone through this amp to insure everything is clean, tight, and sounding right. This is a rig that flies under the radar but those who know, know. And those brave enough to give it a try, become converts.
