Now, that is something you don't see everyday.
Starting back in 1974, Travis Bean was one of the first luthiers to pioneer the metal-necked guitar. In an effort to alleviate the need for constant truss rod adjustments and setups to mitigate expanding and contracting wood, he began constructing necks made of aluminum that attached all the way through the body at the bridge, resulting in an unprecedented sustain and response.
This particular Bean, serial number 684, features a gorgeous koa body, and has actually received a new 12" radius fretboard and frets, professionally installed by the owner of Electrical Guitar Company around ten years ago. The neck thickness measures 0.825" at the 1st fret, and 0.925" at the 12th fret, and features a brass nut with a width of 1 11/16".
It's loaded up with the original pickups, as God intended, and they are HOT! They're rated for a blistering 11.92k in the bridge and 11.75k in the neck. It weighs in at 9.84lbs.
This guitar has been gigged clearly, as it should. It's got nicks and dings and lots of love. It would be a crime for this guitar to spend its life behind glass or locked up in a case. It needs to be played. It needs to be flung around. It needs to be heard. It needs to be seen.
Our expert luthiers have given this guitar a nice spa day, and it is ready to rip. With fresh strings, low action, precise intonation, level frets, and zero buzz or splatty notes, it will play like brand new as soon as you pick it up. We'll ship it to you super fast and super safe in its hardshell case.
