We all love a sweet guitar with a good story, and no builder has a story quite like Zane Guitars. A tall tale involving a car accident, a long and arduous recovery, and a kind gesture to help a young man get his fine motor skills back. The kind gesture in question being the gifting of a hand built guitar. Zane would go on to have its stint in the spotlight of the Christian rock and country scenes, but has since somewhat faded into obscurity. I could go on, but you're here for a guitar. Let's dig into it.
When we titled this one of one guitar as "custom", we mean every bit of it. Under the frosted white top lies a beautiful spalted maple top mated to a mahogany body and maple neck. Now if you're thinking to yourself "damn, that sounds heavy..." You'd be kinda right for a guitar player. However, weighing in at 9.88lbs, all your bass playing friends would probably scoff at you. When you factor in the near perfect distribution of those 9lbs across the guitar, you'd be hard pressed to notice it. Adorning the guitars maple neck is a beautiful cut of ebony for the fretboard sporting a thickness of .787" at the 1st fret, .806" at the 12th, nut width of 1.611", and a radius of 12". A perfect recipe for comfort and versatility.
As we move on to the electronics, the guitar continues to pack a tonal punch. For pickups this guitar is rocking a sweet pairing of the Jazzbar neck P90 (9.36k) and Texas bridge humbucker (8.91k) pickups from Rio Grande. For controls, they kept it classy with a simple tone and volume.
Though the guitar was already a dream boat when it came through the EMS door, our luthiers gave it the full spa treatment. Complete with a full fret level and setup. Without a doubt, this guitar is ready for anything you wanna throw it at be it stage, studio, bedroom. The choice is yours.
