It's aliiiiiiiiive!!! Another creation from Blacktape Customs has graced our shop floor.
This Twin was torn down to bare chassis and rebuilt completely inside a brand new cabinet, with some sweet mods for reliability and noise floor reduction.
Let's get into it. The power tubes have dual bias for each bank, reducing potential maintenance and allowing "bias tune ups" as the tubes age. The bias circuit has been changed to a full wave circuit to increase robustness of the power section.
Various other small mods have been made to lower the noise floor, including the installation of a mid-size 3-spring reverb tank to reduce the noise induced into the reverb circuit, which is a common issue when these amps are converted into heads.
The only mod affecting the tone is the modded master volume, which has been changed so that when turned all the way up, it's invisible to the circuit and thus behaves like a '65 Blackface model, aka the AB763 circuit. Additionally, the IEC mains connector has been replaced. Oh! And the transformers are vintage iron.
