The Boss GE-10 Graphic Equalizer is a ten-band analog EQ unit introduced in December 1976 as one of the earliest effects produced by Boss. It was manufactured in Japan until April 1985 and became well known for its warm, organic character compared to later equalizers. With frequency bands spanning from 31 Hz to 16 kHz, the GE-10 allows precise tone shaping across the full audio spectrum, each band adjustable by up to ±12 dB. In addition to detailed frequency control, the unit provides up to +15 dB of output gain, enabling it to function both as a corrective equalizer and as a powerful boost stage.
The GE-10 features a bypass switch on the top panel and an input for an external footswitch, allowing remote activation in live performance. Its rugged construction and use of a fixed AC power cord (with no battery option) reflect its design as a professional-grade stage and studio tool rather than a compact pedal. The unit is associated with notable players such as Eddie Van Halen, who used it in the late 1970s and 1980s to shape his midrange and push amplifiers, contributing to his signature "brown sound." George Lynch and other high-gain players have also favored it for its ability to add clarity and presence while driving an amp harder.
This vintage EQ shows signs of love and use but functions flawlessly and sounds killer! Give us a shout at the shop with any questions you may have.
