The Epiphone Valve Jr. Combo is a killer no-frills 5-watt combo amp that utilizes a single 12AX7 preamp tube and is powered by a single EL84 through a single 8" speaker. With just a volume knob on the front, what you see is what you get. Make it louder, or make it quieter.

Who's Arthur Sloatman you may ask? Have you been living under a rock? Arthur “Midget” Sloatman is a long time designer and pro audio technician. Beginning with a decade of work as Frank Zappa’s studio technician at the Utility Research Muffin Kitchen, he has logged hours for AKG, the original Los Angeles Record Plant, Blackbird Studios, BSS, and many others. While responsible for designing and building the audio and power overlays at Blackbird Studios here in Nashville, he also refurbished and re-designed their now legendary “Silver Buss” Neve 8078.
So he took this little amp and added a preamp gain control, so you can push that single 12AX7 into pure saturated bliss, while keeping the volume low and manageable. It even has more preamp gain on tap than these Valve Jr's usually do with just the single volume knob! He also added additional speaker out jacks on the rear panel so you can run this bad boy into your favorite cab in the tracking room, while you keep the main speaker in the control room with you.
This thing sounds fucking sweet. It is obviously used, but it functions flawlessly! You could even say it functions better than it did when it was brand new!
