Ah, the hallowed Flying V. Too ahead of its time when released. Re-issued in the late 60s, it's a rock icon. Plain and simple.
This beauty still has all the vibe that it did the day it left the bench back in '84, probably because the luthier was listening to Ride The Lightning or Panama for the first time while he was building it. The serial number actually dates it to production number 66 on October 31st of 1984. Pretty cool huh?
Technically this guitar is finished in a rare "purple burst" finish, but has faded over the years to more of a maroon, which kinda fits its Halloween origins if you ask us.
Anyway, let's get to the nerdy shit. Like countless V's before it, and many to come, this bad boy is crafted out of mahogany, with a matching C-profile neck measuring 0.800" at the 1st fret and 0.980" at the 12th. That neck is topped with an ebony fretboard with a 12" radius, and a nut width of 1 11/16".
As you'd expect from a guitar with a whole four decades of riffing under its belt, this guitar came to us with a good bit of playwear. The frets had been pretty much worn down to nothing, and so our expert luthiers breathed new life into this fine instrument by giving it a full refret. It's still got all the mojo, but plays like brand spankin new.
It comes loaded up with the original Gibson humbuckers with a scorching output rating of 15.98k in the bridge and 15.93k in the neck.
This guitar has seen some shit. Each one of those little dings and scratches tell a story, and you could be the next chapter in this guitar's history. Carry that torch, continue the legacy, add this beast to your guitarsenal, and we'll ship it to you packed safe and secure in its original hardshell case.
