Pick this bad boy up and hop with us into a time machine back to good ole '55. Or rather, good ole '58? I'll explain later, we've got rocking to do. This thing is just classic. Give me a coily cable and plug me straight into a Marshall. That's fuckin rock and roll baby.

You might be looking at this thing and thinking, "but I've never seen a sunburst Les Paul from the mid-50's." You'd be correct. Gibson didn't start offering the sunburst finish until 1958. So when folks started seeing players like Clapton and Bloomfield ripping their brand new sunburst babies, a lot of them took their earlier models and stripping the goldtop and having them refinished to match the new model. Heresy! Yes, but history is often full of atrocities.

The fine folks at the Gibson Custom Shop decided to make these R5's back in 2010 as a nod to those heretical refins. It's designed to vintage original spec, just like the goldtops of yore. The mahogany neck has a chunky C-profile, with a thickness measuring 0.900" at the 1st fret and a whopping 1.0" at the 12th fret. It's complemented by a 10" rosewood fretboard radius and a nut width of 1.70". And to top it all off, this bad boy is loaded up with a pair of Gibson Burstbuckers rated at 7.66k in the bridge and 8.06k in the neck.

This LP has been lightly used, and shows minor signs of playwear. Some surface swirling, a handful of minor nicks and dings, all cosmetic and do not affect the playability whatsoever.

Like all guitars here at EMS, this thing has received a full service from our killer luthiers, so it'll arrive in your hands setup to perfection with easy action, level frets, and precise intonation. We'll ship it to you super fast and super safe in its original hardshell case.

Feel free to give us a call with any questions you may have about it!
