Oh, what's in a name? Well, Gibson was really onto something with this one, because "ripper" is the perfect name for this bass. It RIPS.
Hailing to us from the early 70's, this solid maple-bodied bass sounds absolutely phenomenal. The maple C-profile neck has a thickness of 0.865" at the 1st fret and 0.985" at the 12th, a fretboard of 12", and a nut width of 1 5/8".
Under the hood, it comes loaded up with the original Bill Lawrence designed Ripper humbuckers, and man they sound good. They're controlled by a master volume knob, independent tone knobs for each pickup, and a 4-way rotary selector so you can choose between using both pickups in phase in series, bridge pickup only, neck pickup only, or both pickups out of phase in series.
This bass has been loved in its time, and shows plenty of playwear, as an instrument of its dopeness should! There appears to be some water damage to the finish under the pickguard, which has also been swapped out for a WD pickguard, but it has been inspected by our in-house luthiers and they have ensured that it is purely cosmetic and does not compromise the integrity of the instrument.
Speaking of our in-house luthiers, they also gave this baby a full fret level and setup, to ensure that it plays to the absolute best of its potential when you pick it up!
It doesn't include a case, but we'll be sure to pack it snug as a bug in a rug when we ship it to you!
Feel free to give us a call with any questions you may have about it!
