The SG Special is a badass, stripped down rock n' roll machine. However, someone went a little crazy with this Special here and absolutely decked it the fuck out!
Crafted from toneful mahogany, this SG sports a classic C profile mahogany neck (.815"-.975") with a 12" radius fingerboard (nut width: 1.675"). Pretty classic, right? Well that's where the traditional specs end. Now let's talk about what makes it really Special.
It's loaded up with a gnarly pair of Cream T Custom Shop DT Derek Trucks Signature Humbuckers that crank out rock, blues, jazz, metal, classic rock, etc etc etc like it ain't nothin'! They've got output ratings of 8.15k in the neck and 8.64k in the bridge. Amazing tone in these 'buckers. The controls consist of the traditional V-V-T-T with a three way toggle. Simple huh? Well that wiring harness has also been upgraded to a harness from RS Guitarworks, and a Centralab toggle switch.
But the upgrades don't stop there! The previous owner of this SG also swapped the original tailpiece out for that sweet Maestro Vibrola, reminiscent of that classic '61 SG vibe.
The badass luthiers here at EMS have given this baby a full setup and fret level ensuring it's ready for stage or studio. It plays sweetly like an SG should.
