Wow. What a pleasure it is to have such a beautiful piece of history in the shop. It's not every day you get to strum a chord on a genuine pre-war.
A true classic. The Martin Dreadnought is a timeless instrument that has been used by countless guitarists for the better part of a century, and will continue to be a favorite for decades to come. If this guitar could talk, oh the stories it would tell.
Okay, now that our heart rate has come back down a little bit, let's talk about some of the specs. Of course, the back and sides are constructed of genuine mahogany, and are complemented by a spruce top which proudly displays plenty of playwear from its eight and a half decade career. The mahogany neck has a soft V-profile, with thickness measuring 0.810" at the 1st fret and 1.00" at the 12th, and is topped with an ebony 16" radius fretboard and a nut width of 1 21/32".
Now let's be clear, this ain't no closet queen. This guitar has been played and loved, as it should be. When it came to us, it needed a little spa day to say the least. But fret not, our in-house luthiers have given it a brand new lease on life. A neck reset, refret, new bridge and saddle, top crack repair, a couple reglued braces, patched original bridge plate, and a fresh setup later, and this beauty plays better than ever before. It is ready to continue to be passed down and played on stages and in studios for another nearly hundred years. Not all vintage guitars sound good. Just because it's old it doesn't mean it's special. But this one is special. Whoever ends up with this one will truly have an inspiring piece of gear.
