Plugging into the AC20 Deluxe you will instantly notice the familiar chime and compression of that classic British design we all know and love. But this amp is much more than a sleek copy.... Joe Morgan had a few tricks up his sleeve when crafting this souped-up combo.
The "Normal" channel of a Vox AC30 lays the groundwork for the inspiration behind the AC20 Deluxe, but with a more nuanced voicing that shaves some of the ice off the ice-pick. But don't you worry, there's plenty of clarity to be had with the help of the Normal/Brilliant & Bright toggle switches. This means you get all of the sweet top-end you want, without the harshness that typically plagues other Vox-inspired circuits.
The real secret weapon of this amp is the power level knob that allows you to scale the wattage back from 20 watts all the way down to 1/4 watt! Now you can get that beautiful British break-up at just about any volume.
The AC20 Deluxe also includes a switch on the back of the amp to choose between an EF86 or 12AX7 preamp circuit. Best of both worlds!
All this sweet tone is pumped out via a Scumback SC75 12in speaker. This speaker recreates the tone of the of the old Vox Silver Alnico but with more low mids and a little creamier treble response.
