Vintage, short scale, and seggsy as hell!
National guitars have endured as some of the most unique, eye-catching, and well-playing guitars of the mid-20th century. The Cosmopolitan is a 1/4" scale tone beast that features the original pickups and the original tone.
Let's begin at the beginning. The serial number (X28685) lands this thing firmly in the middle of the last century and considering its age plays like an absolute dream.
Finished in a very worn sunburst, this Cosmo is crafted from toneful mahogany; it has a slightly chunky C profile neck that plays great (1.02"-1.08") and sports a 12" radius rosewood fingerboard with a nut measuring in at 1.67".
All together this vintage Cosmopolitan weighs in a shade under 10 at 9.95lbs.
Electronics are all original with factory faux leather covered single coil pickups that sound absolutely sweet with plenty growl and body when really pushed (N: 4.48k, B:9.16k). The controls are pretty straight forward with two tone knobs, two volume knobs and a 3-way toggle.
Sure, this thing looks like it fought in a trench or two but plays amazingly well for recently celebrating its 70th birthday.
It has been fully setup (with flats) and received a fret level by the pro luthiers here at EMS who have insured that it ships to you with zero issues!
This beauty does not include a case but we'll make sure it ships out safely and swiftly, ready for stage or studio. If you have any questions about this guitar give us a shout here at the shop!
