Well well well, what do we have here? Is this some space-age TV remote, or a controller for a hydraulic lift? Nope, just a super sick rare vintage treble booster that you've probably never heard of!
S. Hawk Ltd. was a company that lasted very briefly in the mid '70s, and produced some incredible guitar and bass effects that are hard to get your hands on nowadays. Allegedly the famous blues guitarist Rory Gallagher loved these things.
The Hawk II Tonal Expander is a simple op amp filter circuit that actually uses old fashioned REAL inductors (as opposed to op amp "gyrator" simulated inductors that we all use now). It's a battery powered only device and is designed to run on 2x 9V in series for a 18V power supply. The unit needs the headroom - the preamp boost gives +20 dB and the treble boost gives +30 dB!
In addition to the treble boost switch (indicated by a symbol that looks like a backwards L), the Hawk II also features a gain boost switch indicated by a triangle, and a trio of sliders for EQing at roughly 170Hz, 550Hz and 2500Hz. Forget the Dallas Rangemaster, throw this bad boy in front of your favorite amp on the edge of breakup and send that thing soaring into saturation!
This sweet little 70's tone box is lightly used, and functions flawlessly! We'll ship it to you super fast and super safe. Feel free to give us a call with any questions you may have about it!
