Here at the EMS, we see all likes of the boujee, bold, and unique amps that the world has to offer. None quite like this though. In a world where many look to modelers to satisfy the versatility their rig needs, some small builders like Samamp out of Alabama continue to innovate in the world of vacuum tubes.
So what's the deal with this thing? Could it be just your regular run-of-the-mill hot rod deluxe clone? Nah, this thing has way more under the hood.
First, let's talk about the two inputs. Two roads diverged in a yellow wood (or green box, as it were), to quote Robert Frost. On the left, you have a British-voiced channel reminiscent of the Plexis of yore. There's plenty of gain on tap with this channel, especially when you scale the wattage down, but we'll talk more about that later. On the right, a more American voiced channel for those tweed deluxe lovers, with a three band EQ section.
Now what exactly does V.A.C. stand for? And wait... are those Christmas lights in the back of the amp? I'm so glad you asked. "Variable Amplitude Clipping" is Samamp's proprietary attenuation design, which utilizes light bulbs in place of the standard resistors. These are used to scale the amp's voltage down in a unique way to allow for more breakup at lower volumes while minimizing tone loss.
These amps are incredibly rare, and thankfully most people haven't yet gotten hip to them, so the price point is still attainable. Don't sleep on this super unique boutique build, snag it now while you can before the world finds out about them and they inevitably skyrocket in price!
This particular one is very lightly used, and we'll ship it to you safely and securely. Feel free to give us a call with any questions you may have about it!
