The Lich was created to emulate the preamp of the legendary Ampeg VH-140C, a popular choice for early death metal bands, particularly in the Tampa scene. With the second version (which Joe from Void Manufacturing has now renamed the Corpse Grinder), the Lich received additional mid and high sweep controls and a few internal alterations to allow you to dive even further down the tone tweaking rabbit hole.
While there are other similar offerings emulating the VH-140C, ole Joe didn't think they were enough. So he refocused upon what made the preamp so great, the ultra mid section. He expanded upon that feature with a "peak" control which allows for multiple added ranges of midrange, for a far superior punishing sounding product.
