Sorely overlooked, the Yamaha Revstar stuff are monsters of tone! This vintage styled guitar is a fresh look that still seems nostalgic at the same time. Some kinda sorcery, I guess.
Finished out in Bowden Green (which reminds us of the old British racing car green...so sick!), this beauty is crafted top to bottom from mahogany. The mahogany neck (.870"-.992") has a medium sized neck profile that's super comfy and playable. The 12" radius rosewood fingerboard feels fantastic under the fingers. The nut width measures in at 1.67".
It's loaded up with a pair of Yamaha-designed Alnico 5 P90s (N: 8.42k, B: 8.27k) that garner all the sparkle, brilliance, and snarl that you want. The richness of a humbucker with the snap of a single-coil pickup. Delicious!
The onboard controls give you a master volume and master tone. The Tone knob is a push-pull pot that acts as a dry switch.
A what now?
A dry switch. Yamaha's onboard P-90 single-coil pickups deliver punchy, chiming tone, while the push-pull Dry switch allows you to cut lows for even more sonic snap.
This guitar is very clean overall and shows only light signs of love and use. There are a few surface level scratches and small dings (see pics).
The pro luthiers here at EMS have given this guy a full setup and some fret leveling to ensure that it plays better than the day it rolled off the line. This one is ready for stage or studio.
