Paper or plastic? Dogs or cats? Hardcore or death metal? Open or closed back cab? These are age-old debates we've been pondering in our society for a very long time with little to no resolution. But what if you didn't have to take a hard stance on open vs. closed back speaker cabinets? The sonic wizards at Barefaced Audio have put this argument to rest with their innovative guitar cab, the Upsetter. So how do they do it? I don't know man I just work here! Ok fine I'll do some research....
The front of the Upsetter cab behaves like any cab you're used to, but it's the backside in which all of the tone secrets lie. Barefaced Audio uses an Augmented Vent Diffractor to make the magic happen. This AVD is a patented technology that amplifies and disperses the mid and high frequency content throughout the room, and inverts the phase of the low end coming out of the back to match the sweet lows upfront. So basically, you get twice the output of a closed back cab with an identical speaker AND even better dispersion and audibility (and far far greater output) than an open-backed cab.
Just in case the increased low end response is too much for ya, there's a low cut filter switch to adjust bass response. Gotta love a happy medium.
60 watts, 8ohms, Celestion G10 speaker. Those are all the facts, now quit reading this and come scoop up this rad lil cab that probably weighs less than your dog!
