This amp has been designed exclusively for the modern pedal steel guitar player. Milkman wanted to make an amp that would end the debate over which is best - solid state or tube - once and for all. The results are in and the conversation has changed.
The Half and Half gets its name because the preamp and reverb section of the amp are all derived from the same hand wired tube circuit that the other Milkman pedal steel amplifier models feature. Its built with the same quality of construction onto a turret board with cloth wiring into a custom aluminum chassis.
Rather than feeding a tube amplifier, the preamp of the Half and Half cascades into a power amp module that puts out 300 watts into 4ohms, or 150W into 8ohms. This significantly reduces the weight of the amplifier. Class D amplifiers behave similar to Class A amplifiers, so the result is a very high fidelity tone that is voiced for pedal steel. The ICE power module is 90% efficient, and convection cooled, so there is no fan. The Half and Half has an exceptionally low noise floor compared to its tube powered cousins. It's just as comfortable in the studio at low volume as it is on the stage.
All of the glorious tone from this amp is pumping through 2 Celestion G12 Alnico Cream speakers in a gorgeous cabinet built by V Boutique. The V Boutique Euro 2x12 cab is the biggest and baddest of their line. A nod to the classic Marshall Bluesbreaker, this cab goes above and beyond in terms of size, design and construction. The front baffle is recessed and angled upwards for maximum volume projection. Closed back with interior post included. V Boutique also included recessed metal handles on the sides to help with transport. This international bad-boy is loud and proud and ready to take you around the world and back!
