TopHat's Super 33 cranks out 33 watts of blessed boutique tone! As a base, they started with a variation on the Super Deluxe, while roughly trying to add both channels of the Vanderbilt 33 model with some tweaks and shoved this guy into a sweet little 1x12 package.
They started by replacing the first tube with the EF86/806 (Currently loaded with an EF806, but interchangeable with an EF86). Next they've incorporated an Off-Boost switch. In the off "Clean”mode, it is only the EF86/806 with only the Gain and Cut knob working. In the Boost mode, it engages the 2nd tube/gain stage, EQ and Master Volume. Because the Master engages, you can control the output level in relationship to the Off mode. There are some sweet combinations of tones to be had inside this top shelf amp!
In addition to the EF86/806, it has a complement of tubes that includes GZ34/5AR4 rectifier, a pair of EL34 Power Tubes (6L6 or 6V6 can be used as well without biasing), and finally a pair of 12AX7's.
All that tone is cranked through a hard-to-find WGS Reinhardt R65H-SC (a speaker with a very British voiced tone, but rounder overall sound).
This next level amp is used but lightly so and damn does it sound amazing! The pro techs here at EMS have gone through it to ensure that it is clean, tight, and sounding right.
