Univox Coily Sunburst 60's

This sweet little semi-hollow comes to us from the lawsuit era of the late 60's. Univox offered these for a time as a cheaper alternative to the "electric spanish" guitars bearing a certain three-digit model number that had been gaining popularity over the previous decade, until they got served with a big ole' C&D all the way from Kalamazoo.

The guitars manufactured at the Matsumoku factory alongside this one are truly some hidden gems of the lawsuit era. The quality of craftsmanship is a pleasant surprise, considering this was the cheap option of the time. The body is made of laminate maple, and complemented by a maple C-profile neck (0.87"-0.91") with a 9.5" radius rosewood fretboard and a nut width of 1.59". It comes loaded up with the original pair of Hofner staple-style humbuckers (4.64k N, 4.68k B).

Like all guitars here at EMS, this fella has received a full fret level and setup from our expert luthiers, to ensure that it plays to the best of its potential, with spot-on intonation, easy action, and zero fret buzz. It has obviously been used in its several decades of life, and shows a few minor signs of playwear, but after some fresh loving from the techs here, we'd argue it plays better than the day it left the factory. It doesn't include a case, but we'll pack it up snug as a bug in a rug and ship it to you the next day!
